PAINTERS CHAIR
French artist Fred Pradeau, during a creative break in his studio, created a sculpture made of four stretcher frames and a piece of unpainted canvas.
Last year, Freds chair went viral. A video from the Zebra3 Art Space in Bordeaux reached 20 million people worldwide overnight 1 2 3 4 - a phenomenal success! What excited people was the DIY character: four standard stretcher frames from the art supply store and a fabric that you can easily sew yourself
Axel Schindlbeck then suggested: What if we turn this sculpture into a product? Both were fascinated by the idea of transforming a Duchamp-like ready-made into a perfected design object - and relying on local, fair production.
The result? A rethought object: 4 frames + 1 canvas, optimized for materiality, stability and usability.
